JMCRCR 2026 - VISITE THÉMATIQUE "QUI ÉTAIT HENRY DUNANT ?” + COLLECTION (FR)

WORLD-BUILDING-WORKSHOPS

World-Building-Workshops

As part of the artist residency, help shape an imaginary utopian community during a series of three workshops with Marc-Arthur Sohna.

Saturday 16 May. Workshop 1: Utopian Rewritings and Banner Design

This workshop invites you to imagine alternative societies. Drawing inspiration from current societal issues, you will create the history of your imaginary society using tools drawn from science fiction and fantasy.

In the afternoon, you will bring your universe to life by creating a symbolic textile banner. The day will conclude with a collective presentation of the invented worlds, in a moment of sharing.

Saturday 23 May.Workshop 2: Creating Festive Attire

Having immersed yourselves in the worlds created during the first workshop, you will help to create the festive attire for these imaginary communities. A wide selection of textiles, materials, paints and other items are at your disposal to make your communities’ festive garments.

Saturday 6 June. Workshop 3: The Parade

Accompanied by percussionists from the Geneva Ethnomusicology Workshop and members of the Yoruba community, you will work together to create this procession of utopian communities, combining the costumes and banners made during the previous workshops with the amulets crafted during the residency. This parade will mark the conclusion of Marc-Arthur Sohna’s artist residency at the Museum.

GUIDED TOUR AND POSTCARDS WORKSHOP

As part of the redesign of its permanent exhibition, the Museum is launching a project to personalise postcards, inviting the public to get involved in the thinking process.

Twice a month on Wednesdays, take part in a creative and expressive workshop open to everyone aged 3 and over. You’ll start with a tour of Angélica Serech’s temporary exhibition, Pach’un Q’ijul, where you’ll discover the artist’s work and reflect on humanitarian action. You will then be able to express yourself freely by answering the Museum’s core question: How does humanitarian action concern us all, here and now? Text, drawing, collage, all forms of expression are welcome. The postcards created will then be exhibited at the Museum and will contribute to the design of the future exhibition.
